What are the black streaks on my roof?
Although there is a film of dirt and debris that is most likely jet fuel exhaust, the black or brown streaks are actually a form of mold called Gleo Capsa Magma. When a roofs surface is tarnished by this mold, the roofs surface in unable to "breathe" properly. That means that your roof cannot properly reflect the suns rays, making it impossible for it to dry properly. As a result, your roofs temperature increases; raising your utility bills and shortening the life span of your roof, not to mention its unsightliness.
What is the green stuff on my roof?
If your roof has a green glow, that is most likely an algae or moss. This can be even more damaging as the root systems grow up and under your shingles. Over time this can cause the roof to pit, crack and eventually leak!
